FIRST EUCHARIST CALENDAR 2023-2024

We welcome children preparing for First Eucharist. This is a memorable year in the life of your child and your entire family. In December along with members of their Holy Eucharist faith family your child will celebrate the forgiving love and caring of Jesus in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The celebrating continues as you look forward to your child receiving Jesus the Bread of Life in the Eucharist for the first time. As with every celebration much time is put into preparing, so too for the celebration of First Communion preparations need to be made.

There is a two-year preparation period for the reception of sacraments. Generally children in the second grade are considered as having reached the age of reason, and thus ready to receive First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. In these younger grades, children receive two years of religious instruction typically but not exclusively beginning in first grade with additional preparation for the sacraments in the second year (typically but not exclusively second grade). Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in our parish takes the form of family instruction in addition to the monthly family faith formation sessions known as LIFT (CLICK for more information). (if your child is older and has not received First Eucharist, please go to our "RCIA for Children" page for more information)

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attendance at all preparation sessions in addition to LIFT sessions is required.
  • If a prep session is missed, assignments will need to be completed and a meeting with the Director of Faith Formation may be necessary. Missing a session could hinder your child’s advancement in the program.
